UKSL Orientation for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

One of the great unsung legacies of the University of Kentucky’s outreach efforts to the greater community is the Donovan Scholars programming by UK’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).  Named after UK President Donovan, this program is dedicated to the free (or nearly free) educational offerings for Kentucky’s senior citizens – you can see the history of this wonderful effort at their website:

Orientation for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Educators

Today, Beth Kraemer from UK Libraries led an orientation session for several attendees from OLLI. They logged in and learned the various ways to communicate with each other, edited their appearance (of course! must “pimp the avatar”), navigated the UK island and discussed how the international community of Second Life might be a place for the various OLLI sites around the nation could expand their professional development and student learning opportunities.  Thanks, Beth, for keeping the UK Second Life Island at the forefront of innovation – and for introducing these wonderful educators to a new platform for lifelong learning!

  1. Wow, you’re fast, Randolph! Thanks so much for visiting with us today!
